Dear Friends,
Tu B'Shvat falls out this year on January 26, 2013.
To celebrate Tu B'Shvat, we are pleased to announce that the Young Israel of Kew Gardens Hills will be participating in a tree planting campaign with the Jewish National Fund.
The Young Israel of Kew Gardens Hills and the Jewish National Fund are pleased to partner in a wonderful joint program to help our shul earn new income simply by doing what comes naturally – connecting to the land and people of Israel.
Through the JNF Affiliate program, we have an opportunity to help rebuild the Carmel forest that was destroyed by fire last winter. When trees are purchased and/or donations are received, YIKGH will receive 20 percent of the total purchase to be used for our own shul programs.
We need your help to make this a success for Israel and for our shul. Trees can be planted in honor of loved ones, in memorial, in celebration of a simcha, or just to plant a tree in Israel. For each tree purchased, you will receive a beautiful certificate naming the donor and the occasion. If we reach our goal of raising $5,000 for trees, we will receive permanent recognition in Israel, a beautiful plaque to proudly display in our synagogue, $1,000 towards our own programming, and of course, knowing that we are important and proud supporters of the land of Israel.
Let's all do our part to help replant the Carmel forest this Tu B'Shvat. To purchase trees or donate, please submit monies to the shul office.
Checks are payable to JNF and should be mailed to the shul office. The cost per tree is $18.
